Abstract
Razieh Tojjar is a committed author who has promoted religious values, particularly martyrdom and sacrifice, in her stories. By associating the Iran-Iraq war with the Battle of Karbala, she has depicted passion, gallantry, and martyrdom from various aspects, thereby expressing her sincere devotion to Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) family, especially the greatest of all martyrs, Imam Hussein (PBUH). Referring in her stories to the Battle of Karbala and the incident known as Ashura as a school teaching humanity, she recommends that warriors should make efforts to fight oppression and injustice and avoid humiliation by looking up to Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his martyrdom as a role model. The present descriptive-analytical research was performed on eleven stories by Razieh Tojjar, and investigated the reflections of the Battle of Karbala in a selection of her story books from the 1980s to the 2010s. Commemoration of the Battle of Karbala is a theme in resistance literature and an important theme in the Islamic Revolution literature at the present age. This component has been reflected in Razieh Tojjar’s selection of works more or less in each decade due to the dominant sociocultural characteristics.
